History

 
Global Chamber of Commerce, Ashanti was officially incorporated in Ghana under the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992).
The Chamber was founded to serve as a pivotal bridge connecting Ghanaian commerce-particularly in the industrial heartland of the Ashanti Region-with global markets, sustainable supply networks, and international partners. 

The Chamber was established to address key structural challenges facing regional and national businesses: 

  • Advocacy & Policy Engagement
  • Industrial & Capacity Building
  • Global Access & Cross-Border Collaboration 
  • Job-Matching & Talent Placement Facilitation
  • Workforce Vetting, Verification & Screening

From its headquarters in Adum, Kumasi, the Chamber operates under the governance of Executive Council which provides strategic direction, sets priorities and oversees policy implementaion. National Executive  Committee (led by a president) specialised operational committees, and a professional secretariat by a Chief Executive Officer. Classified under ISIC Code 9499 (Activities of Membership Organizations), the Global Chamber of Commerce, Ashanti continues to expand its reach across key sectors, creating pathways for local enterprise development, global trade integration, and sustainable economic impact.  


Global Chamber of Commerce, Ashanti, is a member of ICC Network.


ICC is the world's largest business organisation, a representative body that speaks with authority on behalf of enterprises from all sectors in every part of the world. ICC was founded in Paris in 1919. Today it groups hundreds of thousands of member companies and associations in over 170 countries.

Business experts drawn from the ICC membership establish the business stance on broad issues of trade and investment policy as well as on a wide range of policy subjects of interest to companies worldwide.

National committees convey to their governments the business views formulated by ICC. The United Nations, the World Trade Organization, the G20 and many other intergovernmental bodies are kept informed of international business views through ICC.
